June 13, 2009 - The Austin American-Statesman announced yesterday that Gail King has resigned her position as a member of the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees. A group of parents met this morning and discussed that, in these times of financial need, Eanes ISD should not needlessly take on the expense of running a special election unless such a step cannot be avoided.

One way to avoid this expense is to appoint Sharman Reed to the Board of Trustees. Here is why we believe this is the best step:

1) Sharman has asked for and wants to take on this responsibility. It is critical that a member of the board of trustees really want to serve, and her recent campaign convinced over 1100 voters to support her.

2) Sharman has been a tireless volunteer in Eanes ISD, and has watched her three children grow and develop within this District. Her active history as a volunteer should assure voters that she is committed to the well being of children in Eanes ISD.

3) Appointing Sharman insures that the public has a trustee who has a public record.

4) If we cannot appoint Sharman, whom the voters know, then we want a special election. It is critical that the taxpayers of Eanes ISD know the record of the person who is appointed.
