Subject: E3 Community Discussions

An Important Invitation to the Westbank Community

Dear Neighbor:

The Eanes community is fortunate to have one of the strongest public education systems in the country!  We know that Westlake High School graduates are poised for success at the university level and someday will have an opportunity to contribute positively in their chosen career fields.

In many ways, Eanes ISD can be viewed as a model for educational excellence.

Wouldn’t it be tremendous if the success experienced by EISD schools and students was reflective of the quality of public education everywhere?  What if graduation rates across Texas were near 100 percent?  What if student success translated into lower crime rates and greater global competitiveness for our country?

Valuable insight from our community can make a difference in improving public education in our region and state.  We have been asked by the E3 Alliance to gather a cross-section of our citizens together to identify what we are doing right, how we can improve, how our successes can be replicated, what our region/state/nation need from our education system, and many other
related issues.

The E3 (Education Equals Economics) Alliance, which has been created to address these issues, was formed in partnership with Austin Voices for Education and Youth and Texas Forums, with cooperation from United Way, AARO, Austin Community College, and The University of Texas at Austin.

Please consider donating two evenings of your time to contribute to this important effort – October 23 and October 30, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hill Country Middle School cafeteria.  A light dinner will be provided.  Please RSVP at e3eanes@gmail.com so that we will have enough food available.  It will be fun, informative, and vital to the success of this region-wide initiative.  For more information on the forums, please view the flyer http://e3alliance.org/pdfs/eanes-full.pdf.

An overview of the E3 Alliance is available at http://e3alliance.org/dialogues.html  .

We look forward to seeing you!
