Courage is the most important of all
the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other
virtues consistently. You can't be consistently kind or fair or
humane or generous, not without courage, because if you don't have
it, sooner or later you will stop and say, "The threat is too much.
The difficulty is ...too high. The challenge is too great. ~ Maya

KeepEanesInformed received
the following communication from an Eanes ISD parent:
Heaven forbid
your parents:
- have not realized the same reduction in their tax
appraisal as the district's superintendent or ...
- lost their job or ...
- are a single working parent, living in an apartment
scraping by to live in Eanes or ...
- are paying so much in private tutoring they can't
afford a donation ...
- or heaven forbid, have chosen to support a worthier
cause than a public school district that has little or no
transparency/accountability for current expenditures of tax
revenue.
What this appears to be is yet another attempt to throw the
kiddos under the school bus if it will benefit the adults.
"Mom, please give to EEF because my friend's picture is on
the school bulletin board and mine isn't ... our school
mascot will be back on November 21 at lunch for another
photo and I don't want to be left out, embarrassed again.
If you don't donate by then mom, the mascot and my friends
and even my coaches and teachers will see that I don't have
school spirit."
Is the EEF annual report (distributed on the EEF website
which is linked to the Eanes ISD website and also mailed by
U.S mail) that lists all adult donors insufficient
recognition? Maybe the school marquees should read, "My
parents gave to EEF....why didn't yours?"
This gang even pressures teachers to donate. But IMO, this
sinks to an all time low. The donations aren't rolling in,
so let's pressure the parents by pressuring the innocent
kids. Eanes ISD Administration and EEF (one in the same)
should be ashamed! It simply doesn't get any worse.
Cougars are Comin\' Thru for EEF this year!
The Annual Giving Campaign is off to a great start this
year, with over 100 HCMS families donating so far!
Last Friday Hill Country\'s mascot, Salsa, paid a special
visit to the B and C lunch periods and asked children from
donor families if they\'d like to come up and get their
picture taken. All the photos taken that day will be posted
on a sign in the front hallway of school noting the progress
our school is making in this year\'s campaign, so please
come by and take a look at all the Cougars who are comin\'
thru for EEF this year!
Salsa\'s next photo op will be at A, B and C lunch on Friday
Nov. 21, so go to
www.eaneseducationfoundation.org
and make your donation today and show off your HCMS spirit!
And
there's more - this in from the Cedar Creek Elementary
newsletter:
"Your donation prior to November 14th will help speed the
process by removing your name from our call list."
