Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtues consistently. You can't be consistently kind or fair or humane or generous, not without courage, because if you don't have it, sooner or later you will stop and say, "The threat is too much. The difficulty is ...too high. The challenge is too great. ~ Maya Angelou

Does your child have $chool $pirit?

Link here to learn about latest fundraising attempt by Eanes ISD --- coming soon to your child's school?

As board member Paul Stone wrote:  "In addition EEF (Eanes Educational Foundation) is doing a commendable job of converting the mindset of our parents from a "free" public school education to more of a private school mentality whereby parents expect to supplement the tax dollars with donations."

The Eanes ISD leadership is working to convert the mindset of parents

Now they are working to convert the mindset of our children as well.

This latest fundraising attempt by Eanes ISD/EEF is considered by some to be coercive.  Further, some parents are concerned that the school opportunities of children in Eanes ISD may be influenced or even directly correlated with these donations.  The Eanes ISD assertion that EEF dollars fund teachers is a ruse. The EEF donations simply allow Eanes ISD to fund its wish list instead of prioritizing our teachers.

It is significant that donations are down this year.

Donations should be completely voluntary and should never involve children, their school mascot, and photographs displayed in the hall.   Children have absolutely no control over their parent's donation choices and should not be used a tool to that end.  A child's "school spirit" should be linked only with matters that are directly under that child's control.

Eanes ISD has disenfranchised plenty of children in the past.  Apparently, the district wants to send the message that only those children whose parents donate to EEF (and have a converted "private school" mentality) are welcome in Eanes ISD.

That's the Eanes ISD idea of $chool $pirit.

This expenditure from the Eanes ISD wish list was never approved by voters.

Eanes has all the money it needs to litigate against teachers and at-risk children.
